We went to Naguabo, a town in the eastern part of the island for lunch and relaxation. We found a restaurant called Punta Lima, close to the beach. It specializes in sea food, so we ordered conch salad (ensalada de carrucho), shrimp gumbo (asopao de camarones) with mofongo, and mofongo with octopus…

Naguabo (nah-GWAH-bo) is a municipality of Puerto Rico located in the east coast of the island.
Naguabo is said to be the birth place of the pastelillo de chapín (trunkfish), a very popular food in Puerto Rico. I go to eat chillo (red snapper) and arepas (fried flour dough).
From the coast, you can see Cayo Santiago, which is a small island inhabited by monkeys. The monkeys were brought from India in 1936 to be used in field studies by the University of PR.
