Okinawa is a pretty small island.  However, it is a good two to three-hour drive from the Naha area (where we live) to the northern part of the prefecture (up past Nago).  There are also a lot of interesting things to see up there and not enough time in one day to see them.  So, before I came to Japan Nicole went to a travel agent and got a great deal on a hotel in Nago and booked a night for us for the weekend before she had to go back to work.  A last hurrah if you will....

In March 08 I had to go to Yokosuka on business, but the trip also afforded opportunities to visit Tokyo and join Jenny for leave in Jenny's birthplace--Okinawa. My objective in Tokyo was to ride the biggest Ferris Wheel in the city (Japanese: 展覧車 (tenransha) or 大観覧車 (daikanransha) or (kanransh) at Kasai Rinkai Park. Our time in Okinawa was magical, with good weather, beautiful scenery/sunsets/beaches, and reunions with many friends from our time stationed there 2003-05.

Uncle Sam reassigned me to this part of the world which is like heaven for me. My coworker's didnt give me the call sign "Sushi" just because I'm Asian, hehehe.
