The last day at sea was a little sad.  We had a lot to do with laundery and of course socializing.  We all thought that this would be the last we would see our new friends.  We had dinner with our friends then went dancing to say good bye to the band.  All week we had been watch…

Arrived in Nagasaki in the mid afternoon.  This, after attempting to get an early start to my day.  Apparently the shinkansen doesn't run in Kyushu; Hakata is as far as it goes.  You then have to transfer to a local express, which seems to take AGES after traveling at 285 kilometers …

We walked to Glover Gaden this morning from the hotel, since it was very close by. We aimed to go to the Oura Catholic Church, but took the wrong turn and ended up at the right place for the hillside elevator to the Glover Garden 2nd entrance, which was a better choice anyway. We had a great view o…

I go down to the area around down town Nagasaki for the morning to explore for a bit. There are some interesting sights downtown which are generally overlooked by tourist I guess - it seems like most people just come to visit Nagasaki because of its nuclear disaster history. But down in the ol…

This trip was totally out of the blue, whilst on my Working Holiday Visa in New Zealand, I needed to get away from windy Wellington so I chose this strange combination. I was spoilt with beautiful deserted Motu in the South Pacific and amazed at the Japanese culture, its a Country like no other I've ever witnessed, a place I fell in love with and hope to return very soon.

Definitely a city worth seeing.  Visit the peace park, the WW2 peace museum, the epic center (where the bomb center of the bomb was), an old church, spectacle bridge, and several old temples.  Take a 100Yen trolley ride around the city.
