Nagano-ken (Nagano-Prefecture:長野県) is located in the Chūbu region of Honshū(the biggest island), Japan, and its capital is Nagano-shi. When the Ciy of Nagano hosted the Winter Olympics in 1998, a new Shinkansen (bullet trains) line was built, and the access from Tokyo area was greatly improved.
Nagano's is a very mountainous region, and it doesn't have any coastlines. Nine of the twelve highest mountains in Japan are found in this inland prefecture. Due to its geographical features, Nagano is a great area for outdoor activities such as hiking, camping mountain-climbing, and skiing.
