Tomorrow we climb the 999 steps to the fortress above Nafplio. The stairs
wind up and up and up the hill side. It will probably take over an hour
for me to climb it. BUT I WILL! David's knee is very painful from the climbing we have done. So I will do it on my own.... Tara and Robert are going to leave me in the dust as they are in shape and young to boot...... I don't know how much is up there but
the are...

Graduating in May I headed to the Caribbean, then to Spain and Denmark, then the southern US, then Greece, followed by Turkey and Cyprus, then Greece again, and finally the central US.

Not sure exactly where we're staying for two nights, but we know we'll be in the Peloppenese area of Greece. Does this count as "slop"? ;)

Climb through mountains where we glimpse patches of snow. Quaint villages that must have been painted on to the sides of the steep mountains. Shepherd's and goatherds wave as they tend their flocks in the unfenced country. At about coffee time we pass through a village where a woman waves to us. Parking the van we walk back and she rushes around shouting for Nikoli. We ask for coffee and he inquires if we want to try Greek coffee. We do. It is brought...

i've finally managed to escape the oh-so-fascinating world of hedge fund finance, and am now decadently indulging my long-suppressed wanderlust with 15 months on the road and around the world... *note: apart from the odd review (generally of something not found in your standard guide book), this is really more just a map of my travels than a proper blog, but if you want more information on anywhere i`ve been or what i`ve been up to, send me a message and i`ll see if i can rustle something up.

Next morning, after breakfast I had a long conversation with Susanna's husband about the best route through Arcadia. Following his recommendations, we set off on the Ethniki Odos for Lagkadia. After Lagkadia, we turned south and passed through Dimitsana before stopping for lunch at Stemnitsa. After we pulled the vans off the road, I led the kids into the main plateia of Stemnitsa and told them to hang tight while I scoped out a place for lunch. I went into the first place th...

Setting off from Hong Kong in Aug 1992, 2 days after turning 22, I traveled China, Mongolia, Russia, Scandinavia, the Baltics, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East, returning to Hong Kong in July 1993. Apart from Athens/Cairo, I never set foot on an airplane during this year-long walkabout. Before the days of digital cameras, internet, and mobile phones, this solo adventure was as much a discovery of myself as it was about these 31 countries. Many of them, like me, have long since changed.

Just photos with brief explanations from 90 days traveling in Greece, May-August, 2003. Mostly Cycladic islands and archaeology, because I was there as an archaeology student. Explanations may be forthcoming!
