Nafplio, Greece Reviews
A Nafplio Daytrip from Athens Dec 18, 2008
If you have time to get out and about from Athens and are looking for something close (besides the Islands), Nafplio is a beautiful destination, about 1 hour scenic drive to the SW on the Mediterranean coast. Centered around an old, mountain-top fortress complex and encompassing a harbor, this small fishing town has tons of character. The small cobblestoned, narrow streets are littered with small cafes and shops and all lead to a typical square headed by the town hall and an Orthodox church. In the harbor, is another fortress that was used as the coastal defense mechanism for the town.
