Nadi, Fiji -› Yasawa, Fiji -› ...
This morning I decided to book a Fijian Village Visit that I missed out on last time whilst on Nacula Island at Nabua Lodge.  This was only a 20 minute taxi boat ride across the clear waters of the Yasawa's.  Whilst crossing these waters, I did notice there weren't any lifejackets on board.  I think this could be a danger for many people because if something did happen, you'd better a be a good swimmer.  The Fijians are ok, they have feet the size of shovels! When I arrived...

Paradise Found. Taking a seaplane to the Nacula Islands was a world away from the rigors of civilation. We stayed in little huts on the beach called "Bures". We only had to walk a few steps to slip into the beautiful blue-green waters and take in the beauty of having this Island almost to ourselves. We stayed at a great little "Resort" called "Safe Landing" that was inexpensive and the staff was so friendly and accomadating!

Woke up really early to catch the bus to get on the boat, still very tired. The boat was actually really nice, it was a catermaran with a nice but of air con inside. I was suprised at just how beautiful the islands were and it was great to see them. It was a 5 hour ferry ride to Nacula which was as far north as you could go and I went to Nabua Lodge. It was very basic here, run by the Local Fijians and there were only 8 toursits on the island. Outside toilet, outisde shower which was a caref...

Nabua lodge

We learnt a valuable lesson when we arrived at Nabua lodge: Don't let the friendly guy at the airport talk you into going to where 'everyone's raving about', especially if you've just arrived from Hawai'i on an overnight flight and feel like shit. No doubt he made a healthy commission.   After a 5 hour transfer from Denerau on the Yassawa Flyer ('yellow boat' to the locals) Much has been made about Fijians being the friendliest people on earth but at this stage we weren't feeling ...
