Catamaran tour along the Na Pali coast Aug 20, 2009
Na Pali Catamaran has an office in Ching Young Village in Hanalei. It is right on the 560 going through Hanalei, you cannot miss it.

The staff are all very friendly and the people who actually take you out on the boat are very competent and fully first aid and CPR trained. The tour starts with a very short bus ride to Hanalei river, where you're getting into a boat that will take you to a bigger boat in which you'll actually take the tour.

For the first bit there is a good chance to see dolphins and if you do see them try and look out for spinning dolphins. Not sure why they spin as they come out of the water except that it must be good fun! After you turn the corner and actually start going along the Na Pali coast the scenery gets less green but very impressive in terms of landscape with deep valleys and ridges, waterfalls and cliffs. The captain stops a few times along the way to give the other staff member a chance to say a few words about specific places along the Na Pali costline. If the sea is not too rough you will also go into two caves. Finally, there will be a break of 1 to 1,5 hours during which you will be snorkeling (gear is provided for you) and having your lunch. You can order what you want for lunch when you book the tour. If you're lucky you may see a sea turtle when you're snorkeling, maybe even a couple more. On the way back the boat doesn't stop at all but goes straight back to Hanalei. Because the return trip is going against the wind the ride is rougher going back.

One word of warning though: if you tend to get seasick or if you are concerned about maybe getting seasick TAKE SOMETHING AGAINST SEASICKNESS! The tour is much more fun when you can fully enjoy it without trying to control feeling sick or actually hanging over the railing at the back for half the trip.

Overall, this tour offers absolutely amazing views of the remote Na Pali coast, a chance to see various marine life and maybe to swim in a schol of fish, all presented by competent and friendly staff. At $150 Ifind it a little expensive but you definitely get a fun half-day out of it. Highly recommended!
