At 6:00am the alarm on our mobiles went off, signalling us to wake up, wash up, have breakfast and get ready to leave the Vibe Hotel and head on out the Menzies Hotel for our pickup. It was time to leave Sydney and start our journey along the east coast all the way up to Cairns, some 3000 kilometer…

Christmas creates a vast complex network of expectations that bind family together. There are often unarticulated and usually impossible to fulfil, but they are still enforced, creating bonds of guilt. The religious usually have the worst of it, with an increased sense of importance for the occasio…

Louise, (loumac86) joined TravBuddy on July 26th and I looked at her profile photo and thought I could change this nice shot and maybe improve it a little by lightening it up. So I downloaded the photo and changed the lighting, and color balance. I hope you like it!

Ok, when I told my dad that I was scrubbing toilets and showers in a hostel for free accommodation, he wasn’t very impressed, did I spend 5 years at university for nothing he said! Still, I thought this was an opportunity too good to be missed. I worked 2 hours every day in Newcastle’s YH…

Australia is an amazing country/continent. Traveling through Perth, Darwin, and Newcastle adds to a new traveling experience. Williamtown, 45 kilometers outside of Newcastle, has a great Koala farm called Oak Vale Farm. The animal attractions are like no other in the world. At first, we were reluctant to feeding the animals, but after seeing the kangaroos, koalas, and goats, we wanted to get in on the action. For only $14, you get to interact with animals that roam freely within the farm.

I haven't updated this for a few days, mainly because I haven't had too much to say. Stayed in Bondi for the last few days getting more and more bored by the second. Picked up my bank card and Medicare card; just waiting on my taxfile number now. I went out with Carla and her housemates a couple of…

From the Hunter Valley we headed up to Nelson Bay, stopping off in Newcastle en route to visit Blackbutt Nature Reserve. It's a fairly small nature reserve, but afforded us our first sight of some of the famous Australian wildlife, including koalas, emus, and the ever-cure wombats. We also spotted a…
