Myvatan Thermals Reviews
Myvatan Thermals Jul 06, 2008
Part of the wonder of Myvatan is the lovely thermals here.
They lie just outside the town and can be reached by car, bus or even walking if you feel energetic!
As this area is very active and the magma chamber from which molten rock periodically bursts into a swarm of fissures that cut through the volcano from north to south also power the hot springs, the steam of which can be seen like a giant genies lamp for a long way out of the town!
We settled for a long hot soak ... the water smells very heavy of sulphur but the heat makes up for it ... its at least 42c or more here and you need to be little careful of the heat but its well worth while enjoying it!
Prices are good and the late summer nights mean an enjoyable time!
There are good facilities - clean and the showers hot - well what else would you expect (!) !
A small cafe is on site too and some good souvenirs of your hot bath :)
This is well worth a visit and we heard many say that here was even better than the much famed Blue Lagoon!
make a stpop in Myvatan and take a hot bath .. you wont regret it!
