My-Chosen Cafe - Metchosin - TravBuddy

This restaurant started around 18 years ago...(not sure exactly). It was just a wee small cafe in the middle of farm country tucked away in Metchosin. Metchosin is a small community with a fire hall, community centre, church, gas station (which is gone), and a corner store...and lots of organic farmers. These farmers have a farmers market every Sunday selling all organic produce from summer to fall...this includes fresh turkey and chicken. It was a very small cafe attached to an esso station with maybe 8 tables. I used to live out in that farm country and went to that cafe almost every weekend and during that time it was always busy.

Now they have had a new cafe built quite large with many tables and it is still busy...all the time. So you have to have patience to get in. The restaurant is country decorated...with a big fireplace inside and a real comfy feel. They have outdoors area with a few smaller fireplaces ponds with fish and a petting zoo out the back...the baby lambs are cute in the spring. The same people still own the restaurant...and some of the same people still work there...so it's nice that I know them all. The food is awesome...huge variety for the meat eaters to the vegetarian. They now have pizza for the pizza lovers and deliver out to the farmers. Most people like to come in and visit each other...sit down have a talk and socialize. People come from everywhere into a great relaxed atmosphere...and it is child friendly.

The cheescake is to die for...it is simply the best I personally have ever tasted. It is homemade daily from the people who own this fine restaurant.

There is lots to see in the surrounding area, there is taylor beach which goes on for miles...if you want a good 10k walk and then cheese cake to can start at the restaurant out to the prison (hee....hee...) My friend and I hike the 10k in the summer early in the morning and then have cheese cake for lunch...and I love it piled with chocolate and whip cream so I need the walk first (hahahah).
Lots of beaches and trails to hike and explore.

For me it is my favorite. I highly recommend it, if you ever come to Victoria and you have time give it a try. It is about a 35 minute drive out into some great country and worth every minute of it.
