Mövenpick Resort Aswan Reviews
Nicest place in the river Nile Nov 22, 2014
This is the nicest place to stay in Aswan, on Elephanitine Island in the middel of the river Nile. Therefore only accessable by boat. Only downside is that its a bit difficult to find the boat if you arrive.
A taxi could bring you, but the name of the hotel means much higher prices. The taxi drivers in Aswan are not fair.
The swimming pool looked amazing. The views over the river are stunning.
There were two restaurants, but because of the lack of tourists, the panoramic view was only used as bar. The gesnetzeltes is one of Movenpicks specials. This tasted good. Quality of the restaurant is very good.
The breakfast was buffet.
Because the tourism to this part of Egypt collapsed you sometimes can get very good deals. So a 5 star hotel for a midrange budget is nothing strange anymore.

Slice of heaven in Aswan Jun 05, 2010
The Movenpick is newly renovated and situated on its own beautiful in Aswan. Elephantine island is beautiful with lots of colorful flowers and plants. The hotel grounds are pristine, the new lobby is bright and welcoming and the staff is professional and friendly. I cannot praise the service enough. It is clear that The Moevenpick takes customer satisfaction very seriously. Everyone you come into contact with offers impeccable service…and with a smile!
The rooms – Rooms are all newly decorated in a warm Nubian décor. I love the open plan bathroom, ultra modern bathroom fixtures and excellent water pressure in the shower. This is something you appreciate even more in August. The view from the balconies is magical. From some of the rooms you can lay on the bed and watch the Tombs of the Nobles lit up at night and even better, the feluccas sailing past in the morning. Words can't describe the feeling of waking up to the sight of white sails gliding on the Nile with the tombs as a backdrop. Speaking of laying in bed, the bedds are extremely comfortable and the sheets and comforters soft and snuggalicious.
The food - The breakfast buffet is quite extensive and has something for everyone. From breads and pastries, to eggs, fruit, sausages, pancakes, local Egyptian dishes and hot cereals you will not leave hungry. It's served in the Orangerie, a clean-lined, modern restaurant.
Room service was flawless and the prices were quite reasonable. Delivery was timely, the food was excellent and the staff again were professional, courteous and couldn't do enough for you. Definitely try the dessert called Om Ali. You will not be disappointed.
The Tower - The tower is offers a spectacular vantage point to Aswan city and the Nile. Tea is served there from 4-7pm at a cost of 50LE. There is also a happy hour from 9pm - 10:30pm where drinks are half price. Definitely go have a look, if only for the views.
Safety - There is the guard out front, but more importantly I noticed the sprinklers in the rooms and the fire extinguishers on every floor (3 per floor).
Spa treatments are available. I didn't try them but they are very reasonably priced. The pool is also open.
The pool is also a delight.
If you have a late flight, be sure to ask about the day room rates, which allow you to stay till 6pm. This can be even further extended until 7:30pm with a little polite coercion.
All in all, well done by the Moevenpick. The renovations were worth the wait.
Mövenpick Resort Aswan Overview
This hotel is located on Elephantine Island and is reached by a private boat service. The hotel is totally private with pleasant gardens.
This hotel offers good service. The 5 minute boat crossing is very pleasant and the drop-off point is in the centre of the Aswan Bazaars. Please note the hotel pool will be closed until November 2006 due to renovations taking place at the hotel. 0708 MW.
The actual building has a very tall tower which can been seen from some distance. It is a modern structure in white stone and is extremely well maintained.
The bedrooms have been renovated. The standard is good and all rooms have large balconies. The marble bathrooms are maintained to a good standard.
The lobby is very large with ample seating. The furnishing is extremely dated with smoked glass windows and wall lights.
There is a poolside snack bar which serves a variety of food. The main dining room is very large and very tastefully decorated in pale green. Once again the standard of the food is reasonable and all international and local cuisine is available.
