Mustang Holiday Inn Kathmandu Reviews
Not a good choice Nov 08, 2011
We needed a hotel, sort of last minute, and found this one in Lonely Planet.
Of course it's not part of the Holiday Inn chain.
Hotel is located in Thamel, in a side street, away from all the hustle and bustle of this area.
As you approach the building you still have high hopes. The building looks decent.
We had two rooms. One had three single beds, and the other one double. Both rooms were full of mosquitoes.
Double room had problems with toilet bowl, not flushing. We reported this, and found out other guests had same problem. They offered to supply us with a bucket. We refused. They said there's no other room available. It was 10pm, so we started calling other hotels, while one of the staff was trying hard to fix the toilet. He actually made it even worse, flooding the whole bathroom.
When they heard us calling other hotels they came and said if we wait few minutes, they will clean this other room that just became available. We had a feeling the boss or owner was using this room, and they decided to give it to us.
Turns out this room is good, very big, with big balcony, and interesting toilet. It's working, but flushing with hot water. And you have to wait quite a while between flushes. Anyway, we were tired and just kept the room.
The other room with 3 beds was ok. Beds were very hard. No TV or anything in the room. Just beds and a closet.
Didn't try restaurant, the whole hotel didn't look that clean.
Free WiFi works only in the lobby, and there's computers to use, but you have to pay for that.
Staff was nice and friendly, and trying hard to help us.
