Mussel Inn Seafood Restaurant Edinburgh Reviews
Mussel Inn Feb 23, 2013
The Mussel Inn is a seafood place that does great value lunches, right in the heart of Rose Street, behind Princes Street in Edinburgh. It’s a bright, casual place that will probably have a queue for a table on weekends.
Location wise, this is one of the few places that I can recommend in Edinburgh that is close to the tourist zones, right in the heart of the shopping district and within earshot of the one o’clock gun from the castle. It’s also got a traveller-friendly pricing policy; mussels, chips and beer or wine (or lemonade/coke) comes to about £7, which isn’t at all bad for a sit down meal in the heart of the city. The seafood is properly sourced and really great quality, especially at such a good price. Scotland has amazing seafood, which gets overlooked by tourists obsessed with haggis and deep fried mars bars – this is a far more authentic taste of the country’s cuisine than many places nearby. Of course, it’s a terrible place to take people who don’t like seafood. The service was prompt and friendly, and the music policy was good too. A great place to stop on a trip to Edinburgh.
