A surprisingly good museum Sep 30, 2017
The Museum of Vancouver is a privately funded museum that’s a short walk from Granville Island. It does a great job telling the story of Vancouver’s past in an informative and interesting way. One of the things I appreciated most about the museum was its honest and in-depth look at the city’s history of racism, particularly against Asians. This is in keeping with Canada’s spirit of reconciliation with its First Nations inhabitants.

The museum also featured fascinating depictions of how Vancouver experienced such transformational periods such as the 1960’s, and had an exhibit asking visitors to think about our post-truth world and how we interact with it. It was far more interesting than one would initially think it could be.

I'll keep it in mind, as Vancouver is one of my dream destinations. A very distant and unrealistic dream it is, though.

I think anyone who enjoys taking an in-depth look into how a community's character was shaped would enjoy this museum. If you get to Vancouver, it's definitely worth a visit.
