Museum of Shanghai Reviews
Shanghai Museum Jul 06, 2008
Right in People's square you'll find the Shanghai museum. It keeps a collection of various forms of ancient Chinese arts. There are galleries dedicated to manuscripts and calligraphy, porcelain, religious motifs, and others.
A favorite is the top floor gallery on ethnic minority life style. Here you can find traditional dress from all of China's minority regions. There are many masks and sculptures from Tibet. The Miao head wear is amazing to see with all of its intricacies. There are always temporary exhibits, since I went a bit before the Beijing Olympic games there was an exposition on the Greek Olympic tradition. There were good English signs that made it easy to navigate for foreigners. Part of the China 2008 travel blog |

We made second attempt at the Shanghai Museum, but there was a huge line for security check and they limit the number inside at a time. The museum itself was free though. We walked around the park some more and then went back to the hostel so I could make some arrangements… Bund, Gardens, and Bazaar |

My first stop was the Shanghai Museum, which is hailed as one of the best museums in the country. The structure itself is very nice looking (as most museums are), and even though I've always considered myself more a fan of Western art than Eastern art, I thoroughly enjoyed… Tea Fit for an Emperor |
