Best Museum Ever Jan 19, 2013
The Museum of Science and Industry deserves the title as Best Museum Ever as it had everything: interesting, engaging, educational and fun.

Recommended by Chicago native Lindsay during a rainy December 2012 weekend visit, I was surprised by the impressive and imposing size. The museum admission fee is $15 and is acceptable given to quality of the exhibits.

During my December visit, I was first greeted by a 45' Christmas tree as part of the museum's annual Christmas Around the World and Holidays of Light exhibit. Christmas trees decorated with ornaments from many different countries are displayed as well as a description of how people celebrate the holiday.

On this Saturday, a local Belize dance troupe was in performance.

All were well done.

The museum's permanent exhibits are equally impressive, especially a Boeing 727 which hangs in the middle of one of the rooms. Other science based exhibits were interactive and engaging. The weather-related exhibits were of particular interest to me.

I recommend taking the Metra train there from downtown as the museum is easily walkable from the station.

I highly recommend visiting the Museum of Science and Industry when visiting Chicago and will return on future visits.

This place is sooooooooooooo cool!!! Nov 11, 2013
Wow...whether your a child or an adult this place is excellent. They have great interactions with the children explaining how twisters work & even have a simulated one for affect you can stand in.

Lots of war memorabilia, weather extremities, old style village, old cars,bikes,earth....the list goes on there's too much to mention. We spent around 3 hours in there but could have lasted another 2 more so if you plan going here to early to avoid the rush etc.

Fantastic Museum, worth a day trip Mar 12, 2011
Easily accessible by public transit. Totally worth checking out if you're at all into technology or things of industrial nature. It's quite huge, so make sure you've got plenty of time if you're hoping to see most exhibits.

science museum May 08, 2009
This very big museum is located in de south of Chicago. Bus number 6 from the Loop drops you of right in front. Their are 3 floors packed with hands on experiments, displays about computers, genetics, the universe, living green etc. But also a train, airplanes and a submarine in the basement.

Many school trips visit this museum and children are runnning around every where.

Until sept. 2009 there is a special exibition about Harry Potter. They have a lot of things from the movies up on display. If you're a fan, you should not mis this. It costs you extra though.

The food at the foodcourt was nice but very expensive and if you also want to see a movie or go to the Harry Potter exibition, this is a very costly trip.

But if your into science and stuff, it's lots of fun!

Museum of Science and Industry Jul 26, 2002
During my trip to Chicago, I went to the Museum of Science and Industry. I like science themed museums, so I figured I would like this one. This museum has a lot of hands on exhibits, making them even more interesting. It seemed like a fun, family friendly place to spend an afternoon and learn a thing or two. My favorite part of the museum was the aircraft section. They have a fuselage from an airplane suspended from the ceiling. You can walk inside it if you want, but if you have a problem with heights, you might want to stay back. The fuselage does sway a bit with all the people walking around.
