Museum of Fine Arts (Szepmuveszeti Muzeum)

Museum of Fine Arts (Szepmuveszeti Muzeum) Budapest Reviews
An enjoyable stop for art lovers Mar 01, 2013
The Museum of Fine Arts has a lovely and diverse collection including many masterpieces of European painting, classical and Egyptian antiquities, and special exhibits. You won't find Hungarian treasures here -- for that, head to the National Gallery on Castle Hill (Buda).
Free guided tours in English are scheduled daily. There's a cafe on the lower level, and free coat-check. The museum has a lot of stairs, but elevators are available (though hard to find). The building itself is an eclectic mix of architectural styles, in a classical Greek framework. Pick up a map as you enter unless you enjoy roaming. The museum flanks Heroes Square (Hosok Tere) and the city park, so a tourist can easily make a day of it! ![]()
