Museum Gouda

Behind the St Jans church in Gouda, in The Catharina Gasthuis you find Museum Gouda, a historical museum, very interesting and surprising to visit.
This museum gives you a good overview of Gouda, furniture, weapons and paintings from the Golden age.
There are also collections relating to the history of the building as a hospital, the surgeons' guild room, the old town pharmacy, the hospital kitchen and a cell for the mentally ill.
Under the chapel there’s a dungeon.
There’s an interesting display of torture equipment.

There’s also a prisoner cell.
When you pay 2,75 for visit the St Jans church you can also visit the Gouda Museum and the Pharmaceutical museum for the same price, it’s very cheap, I think too cheap.
