Museum Amstelkring Amsterdam Reviews
worth checking out Mar 11, 2010
Museum Amstelkring, also known as Our Lord in the Attic, was a Catholic Church. A tall building that now serves as a museum. The top 3 floors of the house served as the church, hence the name. It was an innovative way to gather together for Catholics to worship. They had to do it in secret, since Amsterdam was mainly Protestant at the time.
It has also served as a home, and you can see the various rooms that the families stayed at, like the bedroom and the kitchen. Seeing the rooms as they were back in the day, along with the altar, makes a visit well worth it.
There may still be construction going on, therefore some things may not be on display. This place is covered by the Museumkraat.
