Museu Militar Barcelona Reviews
Jul 23, 2006
The Museu Miltar is located insde of the Castell de Montjuïc just outside of Barcelona proper. Like all good military castles it is located on top of a very high hill. Even if you enjoy walking consider taking the bus. They have one, the PM which just does a route up to the castle. I didn´t take it but in the future would especially in the summer.
The museum only costs €2.50 and with that you see countless pieces of armour and weaponry from Spain and other places starting as far back as midevil times. This includes numerous swords, shields, plate armour, hand guns, rifles, and heavy weapony. These items are well marked and include individual markings on the swords that could likely be used to identify a family line etc.
The museum also has photos/paintings of many of the kings. Of particular interest was a list of the mayors and kings of Spain and how they signed their names. Very interesting to see.
This site is highly recommended. Even if only to see the view from the top of the castle.
