Colombia's Treasures of Precolombian Indigenous Art Oct 21, 2009
One of the best musea I have visited.
When the Spanish Conquistadores "discovered" the Americas the wiped out most of the indigenous people stealing their golden art works and melting them down before shipping them to power and money hungry Spain. Some of the tribes in remote areas saved themselves and their treasures - some 34,000 pieces - which are now being shown in this museum. Excellent exhibitions - clear descriptions and references in Spanish and English. The entrance fee is a mere 2,800 pesos (US$ 1.25 for adults. Aged 60 and older are admitted free of charge. |
