Museo del Bargello Reviews
May 06, 2006
The Museo del Bargello is one of the most important museums in Florence. Primarily a collection of sculpture, the museum is home to some of the most famous pieces in the world, including Donatello's David. It also houses works by Brunelleschi, Michelangelo, and Cellini.
In several rooms there are large collections of weapons, including early firearms, swords, suits of full plate armor, and other fighting gear. The Bargello was at one time a prison for the city state of Florence, but it has since been transformed into one of the most wonderful castle-museums in the world! |
