Needs signage in English Mar 09, 2013
Museo Naval del Caribe or the Carribean Naval Museum is located in a colonial building, once a Jesuit college. It was previously used as a refuge hospital for war wounded, but now rooms a permanent exhibition about Cartagena and Carribean naval history from the sixteenth century until today.

On the ground floor the exhibition showes the naval history from pre-Colombian to colonial time. There are very few artifacts, but lots of posters to read (if you know Spanish). There is close to no signage in English.

Upstairs there was an exhibition about the Colombian Marine and its part in the Korean war. In another room there were some ship models.

If you don't speak Spanish or are very interested in their naval history, this museum can easily be missed. There is a lot to read, but if your Spanish skills aren't very good, you are through it in 30 minutes.

Opening hours: Tuesday-Sunday 10 am - 5 pm

Admission: adults $4, children $2,50

Yes Carlos, I loved Cartagena! The day I arrived hordes of people from a cruise ship were pouring in to the historic centre. Not very charming, but after they left it was great!

Yes exactly, that one! I think I didn't make a review about it, but I did mention it on my Cartagena blog...

Look forward to your review about it! :D
