Museo Naval de Madrid Reviews
Ideal timepass for an afternoon! Oct 23, 2012
There's a reason the Museo Naval has become one of Madrid's top attractions - it's located in the Golden Triangle of Art, a few rock throws away from the Thyssen Museum, and about 200 mtrs away from the Prado.
So with such rich neighbours (artwise), you would think this is a boring museum thrown in there because someone had a lot of free space and wanted to make money of hapless tourists. Think again! This museum hosts some pretty amazing stuff, if you're into that kind of thing, that is.
Well I was/am!
So, the entrance is quite st.fwd - a lady by the ground floor asks for your particulars (passport verification, bag check through X Ray), and you're on your merry way up. Another lady greets you at the entrance of the museum asking you for 3E.
"Wait a minute! I thought the attraction was FREE. AND,I have a Madrid Pass to boot!" Apparently, the 3E is kind of a 'donation', but they give you this look till you fork the money and pay 'em. LOL!
Anyway, this museum is deceptively large! And quite confusing as well, basically it's a room full of displays of model ships, model soldiers and best of all, some amazing maps used through the centuries. I'd strongly recommend one to visit this place. It is worth the 3E "donation"!
