Great finds Apr 06, 2011
Tucked away near Vicenza cathedral, this is a very worthy museum visit despite the camera ban! The artefacts are spread across three floors and everything has a Catholic element to it as suggested by the name of the museum! It’s possible to see ancient stone work that must have been carved for churches pre medieval times, as well as artefacts that belonged to high-ranking churchmen from as early as the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The key highlight of the museum has to be the paintings that are on the top floor; they were extracted from local churches, are of a huge size and still as vivid as the painter left them during the medieval period. Quite fantastic and worth visiting the museum for these paintings alone. The staff are rather helpful and informative, even if you speak English, and the museum is very well laid out and easy to follow. Worth visiting!
