Museo Casa Hidalgo Dolores Hidalgo Reviews
A priest house from the late XVIII century Jun 12, 2011
This house was inhabited by Father Miguel Hidalgo, the starter of the mexican independence war. It was built in 1779 and Hidalgo lived there from 1804 to 1810. Hidalgo used his house as a social venue, organizing cultural events like small theatre plays and literary meetings, in which of course, he included the texts of the French revolution.
The house was pretty big for an XVIII century house, you can tell he had a good living there. The museum features a lot of the personal items of Miguel Hidalgo, like his books, desk, bed and such. Some of the other furniture has been replaced by items of the early 1800s.
It is a very interesting place to visit, to immerse yourself in the life of a priest that lived in the dawn of the age of revolutions.
