Museo CATCCO Ollantaytambo Reviews
one of best ethnographical museums in Andes Nov 22, 2008
This little museum was fun and interesting. It is touted as one of best ethnographical museums in Andes by our guidebook so we decided to check it out. The exhibits were in Spanish with English translations on little paddles that you match up to the display and read. It covered the history and culture of the Incas in the area. Other subjects include the history of the town, archaeology, pottery, agriculture, crops and textiles.
The museum requests a donation of S/5, or about $2 US. The museum can be covered in an hour or however long it takes you to read everything. It may be closed during the meal/siesta time. A few blocks away is the Museo CATCCO store which sells higher quality woven materials (at higher prices). Be sure to check out their website. It has a lot of information on the Ollantaytambo area and is well done. ![]() ![]() ![]()
