Nice chapel, take my word for it! Apr 11, 2011
Although no photographs are allowed inside, this is not a bad place to visit if you are into religious art. The sight has some great artefacts that go back to the ancient period, such as giant statues of marble and porphyry dedicated to the ancient gods and Emperors. Beyond this, there are church artefacts that belonged to various bishops and other high-ranking clergymen. They are quite nicely laid out in a chronological order. There is also a great chapel inside (I cannot remember the name) which dates from the medieval period. How they transposed it here (or maybe it was already here and they built the museum around it), I don’t know, but it’s very beautiful indeed. The figures are nicely painted, the blue is rather heavenly and the finely gold painted stars complete the picture. Though this museum is tucked away, it’s not a bad place to visit.
