Musée national Gustave Moreau Paris Reviews
Building and huge paintings competing Jun 30, 2014
N48°52.667' E2°20.053' The first floor may be deceptive entering this museum. It’s full of small rooms with small paintings wall-to-wall. Not very impressive, but it gives an inside in the daily living of the painter and sculpture.
During our visit in June 2014, the huge open atelier on the second floor and the gallery on the third floor came as a completely contrasting surprise. In 1862 Moreau asked a befriended architect to convert a townhouse to atelier and gallery for his huge paintings. Both sit as an iron structure on top of the house. Look at the ceiling. Is there any connection with Mr Eiffel?
In the atelier and gallery you can enjoy the jumbo size paintings of Moreau in full glory, if you like symbolism of course.
