The Musée Cognac-Jay is located in The Marais section of Paris, France. Art aficionado Ernest Cognac-Jay’s private collection of paintings, furniture, jewelry, porcelain figurines and sculptures from the 18th-century are housed in the Museum (Hôtel de Donon). Ernest Cognac-Jay was the founder of the La Samaritaine department store and who along with his wife donated the art collection to the City of Paris. Admission to the Musée Cognac-Jay is free and it is worth a visit even to just admire Hôtel Donon, a building dating back to 1575 that houses the museum.
