Heart-land of Indian History Apr 24, 2014
Very few peoples, even Indians have a very little idea regarding this historical place. The then Nawab used to rule the whole bengal province from this Murshidabad. This was dated back in 1700 AD, the British (East India Company) came to Bengal to do business. But later on they virtually captured the whole India after the Battle of Pallassy in 1757 which was fought between the then Nawab of Bengal Siraj-Ud-Dollah and East India company. Then, this Murshidabad was the capital of unified bengal provinces(now W.B, Bihar & odissa state). Only after the Battle of Pallassy, they were able to dominate upon all over Bengal and later on whole India gradually. After the historical battle, the capital of Bengal province was shifted to Calcutta (now Kolkata). Many historical monuments, buildings & sculptures are still can be seen there. Don't worry, it is not to much costly place, neither it takes much time to cover the all historical significance. If one is to tour Kolkata, he/she should not miss the chance to visit this place.
