Okay, time to get a little bit more map-conscious today. Not much, but I wish to see a few of the more ‘off the beaten track’ parts of Venice and this requires eyes to the map to avoid too many prolonged dead ends and actually to avoid accidentally being drawn back into the main ‘touris…

It started off as a trip to Germany to catch the tail of Oktoberfest, led to an adventure through Slovenia's beautiful autumn-tinted forests, road trips to Italy, with a finale in Cairo, and the best part, all in 9 days!

Venice, Italy -› Murano, Italy -› …
This was still pretty early in my travel journeys. I had seen some of Europe but not a great deal. Venice, blew me away. I had never been to a place such as this. It's architecture is even more magical in unique setting of water surrounding and moving through the city. Venice is so grand and yet so fragile. It provided me my first really magical photo.

What is there to say? Venice is a beautiful and most historical place. The architecture is mind-boggling. The countryside is beautiful. The glasswork is unmatched. Having been there only makes me want to go back again. We live in such a cocoon. Visiting places like Venice allows us to peek out and spread our wings and see some of the beauty that our huge planet offers. As long as I can draw breath, I will travel.

Next stop on our island hopping trip was Murano :) I have not taken any pictures because it wasn't that nice to be honest. It is just a smallish version of Venice and not very pretty. You can get Murano glass everywhere. We had a hard time finding a shop that sells water or sandwiches. I eat almost…

What a wonderful time!
I just got back and I miss it already!
The trip started in Roma, then down to the coastal city of Sorrento, Postiano, and Amalfi, then up to Firenze, and then to Sienna, and finally Venezia....where no matter who you are, you are bound to get lost!
Filled with wonderful people, wonderful sites and of course the best food ever!

My friend and I are departing for a summer of fun in Europe before I start med school next year.
Our plan is to drive to Toronto, fly to Amsterdam, check out Italy and Greece, then round off our trip in Spain (with a stop by the running of the bulls).

Having lost much of yesterday, we wanted to get going a bit early so we’d left the drapes open to get the effect of the early morning sun. As such, we were up at 6:30 and had plenty of time to be ready for breakfast that started at 8:00. We were out well before 9:00 and walked via the Rialto Brid…
