After a wonderful afternoon of Wandering around the Bavarian castles we returned on the bus to Munchen. It had been a long day and we needed to get some more currency. So we jetted over to the bank across the street and got in line. We were talking about getting to the train to head to Zurich when …

First off... I feel sort of bad having been to Munich, but NOT actually seeing the city itself. Aside from one or two random bars in between... the only sights I saw in Munich were the main train station (the hauptbahnhof)... my hotel... and the ˝Weisn˝ (the Oktoberfest festi…

Oktoberfest is probably the closest thing you can get to adult disneyworld. The whole city and from what it seems like the whole country and then half of italy and australia are all in the grounds of the festival. Its around the same size as the PNE with all the rides, but all on a bigg…

Today was probably the longest drive we had, as we were heading back into Germany towards Munich. I pretty much slept the whole way, and did this on most bus days. I only woke when JB would do a quiz, or tell his famous stories about the region we were heading to. JB's story was particu…

So my sightseeing of Munich consisted of me visiting the toilet every half hour. It all started the night I arrived...Happy hour and too many Australians in one room. But my downfall and the loss of all memory happened after I had a Jagerbomb (those things will be the death of me). …

I arrived nice and early in Munich, to (once again) perfect weather! After meeting my friend at the hostel and dropping stuff off, we immediately jumped on a tram to Schloss Nymphenburg, one of the many castles built by King Ludwig. Although we were too tight to pay entry to the castle, we walked a…

School is going well. After class Jen, Scott and I went to have lunch at a Chinese place. It was really good! Everyone else headed towards the market, but you can only eat so much German food. After lunch the 3 of us browsed some stores and bought some liquor for later – cheaper than going to …

I was slowing down I guess. I'd had a good sleep in Salzburg, which was great, but I decided I'd take a few deep breaths for a day or two whilst I hung in Munchen. It was a big city and of course everyone visits in October as a rule (well, when I say everyone I mean everyone from NZ and…

A buddy and I made a mistake and last minute planned for the Oktoberfest. We were in Nurnberg and decided on a whim to hop on a train to Munich. Arriving the night before the start of Oktoberfest is a bad idea....especially if you don't have a hotel reservation. We spent abou…

Up earlyish and straight on the S-bahn to the Olympic park, the site of the 1972 games. Madonna is in town and at 10:30 there were about 50 fans loitering around the entrance of the main stadium waiting to get in for a gig that starts at 8pm in the evening. Due to the concert, the stadium tour was …

A very interesting trip going it alone, with a few small mishaps... but everything worked out fine in the end. Met a lot of nice people in all places traveled, kept meeting people from London in practically all of my destinations... everyone was friendly and everyone was usually very friendly and willing to help. I would definately recommend staying more nights in each destination than I did, but it ws still exciting to move at that pace too.
