Two girls didn't care about the weather forecast so that morning they went out wearing coats while everyone else was wearing light sweaters and even just t-shirts. They had some heavy breakfast though, just trying to make most of what they paid for the hostel which was 100 euros for the …

The train was due to leave at 9:40am and we got up at 7:30am but went back to sleep until 8am as the free breakfast doesn't start till 8am on Sundays. We were making OK time and were just packing u…

The day started the same way like on Saturday: When the alarm bell of my friend's mobile phone woke me up ruggedly after mere 5 hours of sleep again, I had to restrain myself from strangling him. After breakfast, we walked downtown to climb up the steeple of Old Peter, how our guide the day before h…

Our last day and Sam said she'd actually spend today with me. I had a shower and washed my hair, narrowly avoiding hypothermia. We got ready and got to the Showgrounds at about 11.30. It was pointless, we didn't even try get in. The beerhalls all close early on weekends as it gets so busy. So we wa…

As much as I hate to be a cliche... it had to be done.Living in Europe, right next to Munich and not seeing an Oktoberfest just would not have been right.I missed it last year as I had the joy of spending 3 weeks in the deserts of Libya. So I was determined to get there this year. I was fortunate en…

I spent 4 days in Munich and found the place to be quite pretty, friendly people and enough to see and do for a short trip.I stayed in the Holiday Inn Schwabing in the north of the city .Taxis to and from the airport are expensive so unless you can share then either a coach or train would be better .The weather was sunny and around 80F .There are a lot of eateries and bars in Muncher Freiheit and the Marienplatz areas .The English Garten and BMW museum are nice to visit.

Today was the day that we were signed up for the tour of the Neuschwanstein castle. Unfortunately we had to be up at 7:30 in order to get to the train station on time and we didn't get back to the hostel until 4:30am. So I was very much hung over/still drunk and it was very hard to actually get up …

Those of you who have been to the Alte Pinakothek, the old arts museum--not old building, old art--in Munich, might remember that you walk in right in the middle of it, and the paintings are mostly upstairs to both sides. Right at the entrance is the gift shop, which I figured I'd leave until the e…

With construction on the Autobahn between Augsburg and Munich, and heavy traffic by road closures within the city, it was nearly eleven o'clock when Walter and I reached Manuela's place. Her narrow residential street was lined with parked cars. Since she had no car, we were able to pa…

Unbelieveably, we actually got up for the

little hungover again, but we were there.
It started at 11am at the New Town Hall where the glockenspiel
chimes out every fifteen minutes. It depics a josting match in which Bavaria
