food good - organisation could be better Aug 26, 2014
We had lunch at Muisbosskerm. It’s said to be the oldest open air restaurant at the west coast. We were very lucky with the weather, we had clear blue sky although the temperatures weren’t very high. The lunch was supposed to start at 12.30 but we had to wait at least half an hour before it really started. It began with a snack – calamares. Then they offered different fishes with some sides like salad, fresh bread or sweet potatoes. The fishes were labelled so that you would know what you eat. After the fish you could eat some meat dishes and in the end there was some coffee and koeksisters. The food was really good but way too much. Some of the people filled their plates and threw away half of it. What a waste! I was a bit disappointed about how they presented the dishes. They just put it on the buffet and sometimes you don’t recognize there’s something new and it gets cold very fast or it’s away before you can try. I guess we were lucky because there weren’t many people and we could try of everything. The restaurant is just open when they have enough reservations. So you should call before you go there.
