Muir forest May 17, 2008
ok so on my way to stinson beach while i was in sf it was rediculously hot, but i had the top off the jeep so that helped jk, we took the long way to the beach through the forest. The sites as you drive through the forrest are unforgetable. It really reminded me of being on a 2-track going through the mountains. That is with the exceptiong of it being paved and going by small towns on the way. It was crazy beautiful and i recommend the drive to everyone. To get there just follow the sign from the 1 and you can also end up in stinson beach which isnt a bad place either.

One of the sites to see on the way to Sonoma or a day trip from San Fancisco is Muir Woods. Muir Woods is a 295 acre Redwood Forest. It is 12 miles north of Golden Gate Bridge. It is open from 8am to sunset year round. The roads into Muir Woods are very steep and winding. The parking situation is not much fun. If it is busy you will be walking a good half-mile to the entrance.
These trees are huge. It really is a sight to behold. Many of the trees are over 300 feet high and 600 years old. There are many hiking paths for both the stroller and the adventurer. We stayed here for a few hours just walking around and enjoying the scenery. Part of the California Wine Country travel blog |

So the city is beautiful but the hills can be a challenge. Members of Sean's family live in the Bay area and his parents flew down so we were really given the local's perspective. It was an incredible trip. We went to Muir Woods Na…trip. We went to Muir Woods National Monument and saw the redwoods. They were incredible. It was very quiet too. The ground was soft with tree needles the trees blotted out the sun. it was very cool inside the forest.

I left my heart in Fat Sam's disco ... or was that San Francisco? Thus crooned Tony Bennett. I can certainly see why. SF is a very compact city by American standards and is extremely walkable (well apart from all those steep hills).
