Really, really Tall Redwoods Trees .... Very Tall Aug 20, 2012
Away form the hsutle & bustle of San Francisco is Muir Woods. Just a short drive over the Golden Gate Bridge and a great scenic drive on some mountain roads with curves & hills with scenic overlooks of the city below.

The park has walking trails thru the great redwood trees. There are a few different paths to follow with hiking trails covering some gradual climbs. The trees are over 200 feet tall & look as if they touch the clouds. The park provides guided tours, where the knowledgeable guide will tell you everything you need to know about redwood trees.

If you are a nature lover, you will love this place. Like all other parks & attractions, the route ends by the gift shop. There is a restaturant there with a limited menu but enuff for being lost in the woods.

It makes for a nice relaxing walk in the woods. Adrenaline junkies like myself will not find too many thrills here . After awhile all the trees start to look alike ... just saying.
Really, really tall trees

Muir woods - 1 hour getaway from SF Mar 30, 2011
Muir woods in Marin county is a great 1 day getaway from the bustling SF. You do have to pay 20$ to get it (Use your NPS annual pass to get in for free) .. but i think it is totally worth it. Great chance to see some of the coastal redwoods of CA.

A walk among the giants Apr 05, 2009
These incredible giant red wood trees grow only along the Pacific coast and had grown so huge because of the big amount of moisture in the area - fogs and rains. After walking among them you feel refreshed and enchanted.Stay next to one of those giants and you'll feel small and admiring nature once again. The woods are just 15-20 minutes away after crossing the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco and are worth experiencing their magic.

Redwoods at the coast Jul 18, 2007
Because of it close proximity to San Francisco this area of California Coastal Redwoods is one of the most popular places for tourists with short vacations in the state. This site was pronounced a National Monument by President Theodore Roosevelt back in 1908.

This is a much smaller grove than the ones farther north, but there are four trails you can take from the same beginning point and go from a half mile to a two mile loop. There is a small fee to enter, but they honor the Golden age pass for seniors. There is no smoking allowed on the trails and no bicycles are allowed. Also, no pets are allowed except service dogs.

The main drawback here is that on nice summer days parking would be a real problem.

Located just a dozen miles north of San Francisco, California, this is one of the last remaining stands of California Coastal Redwoods that used to cover most of the northern coast of the state. It was pronounced a National Monument by President Theodore Roosevelt back in 1908. The Park is made up of four walking trails, which begin the same and go from a half mile one half hour short unpaved trail to a two mile loop. There is no smoking on any trails, no bicycles are allowed, and no pets, except for service dogs. There is a small fee to enter, but they honor the Golden Age pass for seniors so I did not have to pay. Parking could be a problem on busy summer days.
