Mui Ne - Tom and Jerry?
posted by:

I had hired a motor bike driver for the day to take my around the sights of Mui Ne, this meant getting up again at 6:30. I managed to get up in time blurry eyed and met up with the driver, first stop, he informed me was the fishing village. We sped off down the road helmet-less once again on the back of a scooter. I forgot to mention in Cambodia whilst on the back of a scooter we nearly crashed due to a roaming cows all over the road.  I arrived safely at the busy and smelly fishing ...

White Sand Dunes, Red Sand Dunes, Dune Slides and More Dunes!

After a good 8-hour sleep, I woke up early and had coffee by the beach.  I was supposed to catch the sunrise but it was still raining then so I went back to bed instead. The beach this side of the town is not appealing with strong waves so I just chilled out.   Bus leaves for Saigon at 12 noon, so I had free time the entire morning.  I decided to check out another famous Mui Ne attraction, the Red Sand Dunes, as I can’t get enough of it.  This time, I h...

Heading for the beach - Mui Ne
posted by:

More days spent sunning ourselves on the beach, eating cheap squid & whole fish and drinking cheap beer & wine. So stressful...***Drinking far too much at the beach-front bar WAX. We ended doing drunken Yoga on the beach and swimming in the sea. The result of which was us dripping sea water and sand all over their dance-floor at 3am in the morning. It was a good night!

I felt so embarrassed when i asked to have a long holiday. Jan and Feb were high season in tourism. More tourist visit Ho Chi Minh city as well as others places of Viet Nam.So that was busy time of the year. so i should stayed at work in stead of stopping working and doing  my dream trip. I think i was the laziest worker at Bi Sai Gon hotel - my work place. I had heaps of offdays because of all occasions : tired (b'coz talked too much), birthday ( of my friends),wedding ( al...

The beginning of my Northward Journey
posted by:
Oct 16, 2006 - Feb 10, 2007
After one quick week in South Vietnam, it was time for me to make my northward march to Hanoi, whilst Bohng Phatry returned back to his temporary home, Phnom Penh.As I arrived at Mui Ne, after a 4 hour bus ride, I was dropped off at Hanh Cafe, the local branch of the Open Tour Bus service. With such a company catering for westerners, the 2 customer service dudes sitting at the counter was absolutely of no help. Neither of them spoke a single word of English, and as I started asking que...

From the Heart of Darkness to the tropical beaches of Mui Ne
posted by:

I’ve slept well in our room with super air conditioning and we get up at 5.30 am, to leave Ben Tre at 7. First we have to drive in the wrong direction, to get to the ferry to cross the Mekong, before we can continue moving actually closer to our destination. At first all the seats in the front of the bus are taken, but soon Michel announces that the guide’s seat will remain empty today, so I gladly move forward, because in the back nobody’s already enough awake to chat. When we arrive...

Weekend by the sea!
posted by:
Jan 23, 2008 - Aug 03, 2008
I woke late but felt refreshed so didn't feel bad about sleeping past breakfast. Once up we headed away from the main hotels and bars and walked to the picturesque fishing village about 3km away. I was starving but managed to wait till we got back to the hotel for food. It turned out that the hotels restaurant was affiliated to the restaurant we went to a couple of weeks ago in Ho Chi Minh. Thankfully the standard of the food was equally good. Despite the high winds causing the se...

Mui Ne Beach & Sand Dunes
posted by:
Jan 16, 2007 - Aug 28, 2007
Everything goes on the back of a motorbike in Vietnam: caskets of fruit, beer, computer monitors, fridges and generations of families. Due to my own cowardice or, perhaps, sensibility, everything apart from me, it seemed. Until now. Yes, I know I said I wouldn't do it, due to the lack of helmets, the hectic roads and a general will to live, but I have. I was awaiting pick-up from a bus company to take me to Mui Ne beach, and had been told a driver would come at 8:00 to take me to the bu...

Beach time!
posted by:

Kerry - We were just getting settled into the beach at Hanoi and then left, but more beach awaited us in Mui Ne. We took the night bus to get there from Hoi An. We had to wait for a couple of hrs in Nha Trang as there are no direct buses there. We opted to stay in Mui Ne rather than Nha Trang as it is said to be a nicer beach and also a lot quieter and less developed than Nha Trang. This seemed to be the case . We passed Nha Trang at 6am that morning and it reminded me of Rio, with the beach ...

06:30 uur opstaan.

Needless to say the last two days have been spent doing very little.  Getting up, having some breakfast, finding a sunbed, lying on it, occasionally getting up to have a dip in the sea and reading.  The hardest thing we have had to do is put sun cream on.  We obviously didn't do this very well as all four of us managed to get sunburnt yesterday, so all look typically British at the moment! Last night we had gone to a bar in the town where there were a group of extremely chav l...
