The Musée des civilisations de l'Europe et de la Méditerranée opened in 2013 with the permanent exhibition Galerie de la Méditerranée and temporary exhibitions. The Fort St Jean is connected with the MuCEM.

Opening times:

Summer, July-31 August: 9 am to 8 pm

Fall, September 1 - October 31: 11 am to 7 pm

Winter, 1 November - 30 April: 11 am to 6 pm

Spring, 2 May - 4 July: from 11 am to 7 pm

Late evening on Friday until 10 pm, 2 May - 31 October

Closed on Tuesdays

Closest bus stop is probably Capitainerie (entry via Fort St Jean) by bus lines 82, 82s, 60 and 49 or Gare Maritime Internationale (entry via Esplanade du J4) bus lines 82 and 82s.

Tourist trap and local population trap Jul 29, 2014
This place is only made to get your money you won't find some real culture in there, if you are crazy enough to go there pay attention to the details and appreciate that they have do the minimum... for culture and the maximum for business... avoid this place... and if you wan't to see mediterranean culture have a walk outside from sightseen tour offenses, Marseille look you only as pedestrian wallet... I assure... Since the inauguration of Mucem the city council only developped shopping center for tourist and completly ignored local populations wich are suffering the city council choice, family expelled for building shops etc....
