Mt. Theilsen is near Bend, Oregon. Its summit is about 10000 ft above sea level. The hike to the top is a Class 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5 hike. It is not for the faint of heart. On the way to the top, when there is a space in between the dense trees, you are able to see small lakes around the area. As you get closer to the top Crater Lake becomes visilbe on clear days. Once you break the tree line you start to hike on a strech of trail nicknamedthe "cheesegrader" because of the massive amounts of shale and other sharp rocks on the ground and because of the steepness of the ground you are walking on too. Once you get past that part you are almost at the top, but to get there you need to go about sixty feet straight up. It can be climbed by hand, but it is much more comforting to be roped up. At the top it tends to be windy, however the day i was up there it was calm so i could eat lunch at the top. From the top Mt. Shasta was visible, which is located in Northern California. It was one of the best hikes I had ever been on. Mt. Theilsen was the beast that couldn't stop me hahaha!
