Good place for a sunny day Jul 18, 2011
This place was surprisingly good. It consists of a botanic garden, a summit lookout and some trails.

Most importantly, you can get there by bus from the city centre- bus stop 40 Adelaide St. Bus number 471. It's not that frequent like 1 per hour and the last bus depart from the summit at 4ish. So if you want walk the whole place then start early!

The botanic garden. They offer 2 free tours from the info centre 11am and 1pm. Unfortunately I missed both so cannot review that but the garden itself was very good. Better than the ones in the city I would say. There is like rainforests, Japanese garden etc. Even saw a big wild lizard like the one you would see in the zoo!

The Summit lookout. A lovely place to look at Brisbane in height (though it's not actually that high), but from this far you can see the city and the surroundings, which is a pretty cool panoramic view! You can start from there and do some of the trails they suggest. I cannot recommend any trails because again I missed them as I arrived to there at 1ish and simply didn't have enough time.

Suggestion: Start early to make the 11am free tour then make your way up to the lookout and the trails. There are a restuarsnt and a cafe ar the lookout but if you want to save money then bring food and drink with you. And lastly, don't forget the last bus is at around 4pm!

Different attractions at Mount Coot'tha Jul 07, 2010
Mount Coot-tha is a mountain as well as suburb of Brissy, which has been declared a Public Recreation Reserve.

But this place it's not just about a mountain, it offers different attractions to the visitors, such as:

-The Lookout: as it name suggests you can get a great view from the city. This place is also dog friendly. Being one of Brisbane's most popular tourist destinations it offers several facilities, including cafes, gift shops, restaurants with panoramic views, etc.

-Mount Coot-tha Botanic Gardens: located at the base of Mount Coot-tha. It has a tropical plants hothouse and also a Planetarium.

-Walking Tracks: they are several and one includes Aboriginal artists art display. The tracks vary in difficulty, most involve steps and uphill.

-Mountain Bike Trails: at the Western side, very appealing to off-road cyclists.

If you are in Brisbane, do not hesitate in visiting this area and enjoy its attractions. You will spend a great time, plus it's free :)
