Mozart Residence (Mozart Wohnhaus) Salzburg Reviews
Worth a look if time permits! Oct 16, 2010
Being in the home town of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, was there any doubt that there would be an attraction focusing on Salzburg’s favorite son? In fact, there are at least 2 of them, one of them being the Mozart Residence. This was the building where the famous music composer lived during part of his adult life.
Finding it can be tricky, as there is not much in terms of signage. It is a long yellow building, with the Austrian flag flying over the entrance.
This is a museum that tells the story of the life of Mozart, as well as his family. There are artifacts and displays that tell the story, from his childhood to his days as the music composer. Plus there is a short film.
The place is seen on a self-guided tour, with an audioguide. The audioguide is included, and I thought it was interesting and informative, learning about Salzburg’s favorite son. And even having some appreciation for classical music.
Though, I did think it was overpriced, for a place that takes a relatively short time to see it. And photography is NOT allowed inside at all!
But even with those issues, I think this place is definitely worth checking, for any visitor to Salzburg.
