Nice Little Motel near bus station Aug 31, 2014
The motel located in between the old town and the main bus station in Mostar which is the same walking distant to both places – less than 5 minutes’ walk to each direction, which we find really handy especially we only stay short time here and have to catch bus the next day.

There is no formal reception at the motel, only a restaurant/bar at the front of the building and the rooms is at the back of the restaurant. We do not have any booking here just turn up from the bus station since we thought it is low season for traveller and would be easy to find any hotel – depending of the price. There were one woman offering a room at her place when we arrive at the bus station, unfortunately she does not have an en-suite room which we decline and she also offer a studio apartment of her friend, which located next to the motel but the apartment condition was below average for us (when we check it and price wise not much different with the motel), therefore we choose this motel.

The woman who attend the bar/restaurant does not speak much English but we managed to communicate with her and asked to see the room before we agree on price. It cost €30 per night for two people without breakfast.

We have a room not far from the bar however the room itself was quite since there is a door separating the room and the bar/ restaurant. The room was quite spacious with a big hallway from the front door to the bed, there is a bathroom on the left side of the hallway and a wall without door which separating the hallway and the bedroom. The bedroom has one double bed with colourful flower bed sheet, a couple of chairs and small table at the end of the bed, and all modern amenities you can expect from the three stars hotel and also air condition which I found rare in European country. It seems all the amenities work well – we test the television and I definitely use the air condition – no matter what, if there is an air condition in the room I just have to switch it on.

The bathroom is clean and spacious with glass shower which I appreciate very much.

We did not try the bar/ restaurant at the motel since we only stay one night here and opt to eat out at the old town with the view toward the famous bridge. Not sure if the motel serve food or not. No map or other information at this place and it is no point to ask for direction since the woman who attend the bar does not speak much English. We roughly know how to go to the old town – thanks to the lonely planet guide book we have. We enjoy our stay there and it was easy walk to the bus station the next day and check out was smoothly, just handed the key and off we go.

Good location halfway between the old bridge and the bus station Aug 31, 2014
We arrive in Mostar and it is actually our plan to head for the old bridge and try to find some sort of accommodation down in that area to be close to the attractions and the restaurants in the center. But when we tried to get a taxi from the bus station it turned out to be a bit of a problem. Hence we gave up on the original plan of heading all the way to the center. Instead we tried to find a place not too far from the bus station which would be a lot more convenient when leaving the next morning as well.

We are searching for a bit and have a look at different private accommodations along the road from the bus station. There is a few but all seems to be offering rooms for 20 Euros. But we end up it the slightly more expensive Mozart Hotel since it seems a bit better maintained and the bed looks more comfortable than the other places we had seen.

The hotel is located in easy walking distance both from the bus station and the old town so it is pretty ideal place to stay if you are continuing on public transport from here. The hotel lobby is a bit strange - it is located in a bar or coffee shop down at the first floor but the staff there reacts when we come in and asks for the hotel. Despite the fact there is a coffee shop down below there isn’t any breakfast in the morning so if you want anything but coffee and spirits for breakfast you will have to look elsewhere in town.

After we got the key and were ready to get out and explore the town I asked for a map and directions to the old bridge. The map was a really bad quality photocopy so it didn’t do much to help navigation - fortunately it was very easy to get from the hotel to the old town - just go to the first corner and turn left and then make a right at the next major intersection. We remembered to bring the keys when we left - there is a key for the door to the room but we also got an extra key to open the front door which apparently will be closed at night time. We didn’t actually get back that late so the front door was open every time we tried to go in so I am not sure when they actually close the front door so you need the extra key.

The room is decent size with the standard of modern with all you should expect of modern amenities including an air condition which was really necessary during the late summer but it did function and keep the temperature a bit frigid. There was also a television which seemed to have a few international channels in addition to the local channels which was especially convenient if you are fluent in German so you can enjoy all the selection on the television.
