Mountainside Lodge Whistler Reviews
Heart of Whistler... Mar 14, 2011
Booked via Expedia for 3 nights cost AUD$292 for a room with bathroom for 2 travellers in June 2010. No breakfast but kitchen facilities with shops in the wonderful Whistler village. Alternatively there were restaurants for eat out meals and drinks. Also lots of ski/snow shops.
We hired a car and it was a beatuful 2.5-3hr drive from Vancouver. It took us longer because as we drove the sea to sky highway we stopped at every photo opportunity. And there were a lot!
When we entered the room i said to my bro "where is/are the bed(s)?". After a while we realised that the padded seat for the kitchen is the main bed. Then there is a slide out mattress from under the padded seat. Pillows and sheets are stored in one of the cupboards. You will also have to move the dining table out of the way **Not sure if this is the case in all rooms. Also be careful not to step on the person on the lower mattress when going to the bathroom in the middle of the night in the dark - especially if you've had a few drinks!
1. Good value for a room with kitchen and cooking facilities (micorwave, stove, fridge, toaster, cutlery etc). We had the tv on the 2010 soccer world cup most of the time!
2. Clean bathroom and well stocked with toiletries
3. Hottub and swimming pool (didn't use it personally but good to have)
4. On the ground floor free internet
5. Friendly and helpful staff. We asked about safe hiking trails within a drivable distance from Whistler, daily weather conditions, and bears (!!)
1. Nothing major
The only minor bad aspect is that when we re-arranges the furniture so we could fit the bed we had to also move some of the chairs and our suitcases - it felt very cramped. However, because we were sleeping when this was the state of the room, it was not a hindrance. ie we did not trip over or run into anything.
Overall double thumbs up - a recommended hotel. I am coming back in winter for snowboarding if it's available and i can find a fellow snowbaording TB!!!
