Comfortable, but without atmosphere Jul 13, 2005
The Mountain Villa Hotel in Chengde is both comfortable and affordable (mid-range prices). Rooms are very nice and clean and the location of the hotel couldn’t be better. It’s within short walking distance of the city centre and is positioned across the street from the main entrance of the Imperial Garden Palace.
If you are looking for a hotel with atmosphere and character though, this is not the place to be. The hotel and its rooms have no ambiance whatsoever. It’s a comfy and clean hotel with excellent showers, nothing more. You barely notice you’re in China when you are in your room. But then again, why stay in your room when there is so much beauty to discover in Chengde? |
