Very accessible historic hotel with nice verandas for afternoon tea Mar 29, 2014
N44°15.449' W71°26.357' Not able to climb Mount Washington due to fog in August 2013, we diverted to the historic Mount Washington Resort, open since 1902, for a small inside in the lives of the rich and famous. We didn’t think this historic 200-room hotel was accessible for day guests, but it simply welcomed us to wander the elegant white verandas, imposing public rooms and the birthplace of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. Note the moose’s head overlooking the lobby.

Encouraged by other guest to order strawberry cheesecake for a spiritual experience, we found a nice spot on the veranda overlooking the foggy mountains of New Hampshire and soon released that we could be here in this special atmosphere a whole day enjoying ourselves. The view from the veranda impressed us much more than the strawberry cheesecake, but it just fitted the occasion perfectly likewise the compulsory British afternoon tea in such a momentous historic place. We felt as if John Maynard Keynes was having its afternoon tea next to us. Recommended.
