The highest of the seven mountains Aug 27, 2007
Nothing is like the view from Mount Ulriken, the highest mountain around Bergen with its 642meter. For experienced hikers its Primary Factor is 590(!). Primary Factor is a number to define how high the "mountain" is compared to the saddle around it. So high numbers means better views.
There are several ways to reach to top: There is a Gondola ride up to the TV tower, located on around 609meter. This is the way most tourists go and its absolutely recommended The far best way to get to Ulriken is a trail going up from Bjørndalen. From Haukeland Sykehus walk into Stemmeveien and over the small river. Just continue up the road and you will soon find yourself in a dead-end. Here there is a Waterfall and just follow the trail parallel to the waterfalls. The is perhaps the trip with the best view, but also the hardest one. If you want to take this hike, take it on the way up since it can be slippery to go down. The route is called "Bjørndalen - Stølekleiven - Hestekleiven - Ulriksmasten". Or just Stølekleiven. The easiest route is by far the "Langrinden" or "Lægdebotn" ,but these run on the opposite side of the city so they cant offer the same view on the hike up, but they are suited for everyone. So.. The best way is to Walk Stølekleiven up (1-2hours, depending on the pace) and take the Gondola down. Part of the My hometown : Bergen travel blog |
