A must try place in Philippines "MOUNT PINATUBO" Mar 25, 2011
The Mount Pinatubo is easy to trek even for beginners. Good for relaxation, adventure and it's really cheap. Easy to go and this place is worth a try for those who's into nature and adventure.

Mt. Pinatubo Dec 27, 2009
Mt. Pinatubo is the infamous volcano which erupted in 1991.Its intesity was so strong, it killed hundreds of Filipinos & wiped out of the map its neighboring towns.Who would have thought that this monstrous volcano that once was responsible for the dark clouds engulfing the whole province with massive ashfall is now one of the most breathtaking sight here on earth. Its majestic view of the crater leaves tourists in awe.It is so picturesque, its like viewing a canvass painted by the hands of God.

I joined my friend's group tour and rode a van to capas, tarlac. At the foot of the volcano, you will ride a 4x4 jeep for 1-2hours or so across the rough terrain of the lahar (volcanic ash). The jeep will stop at some locations so the tourists can take pictures. Once the jeep drops you off, the hike starts but only for 30mins.... and then the beauty of the turquoise water of Mt. Pinatubo will greet you.

Half way "journey to the center of the earth" Jul 17, 2008
Forget about Angeles City when you are in the Philippines, Mount Pinatubo is a must for those who are adventurous. Do scout around for tour agencies around the city for the best deal available. You will be pick up at your hotel ( in my case ) by a driver to drive you to a small village ( more like a base ) From here onwards, it's a 1 1/2 hours drive with a 4WD vehicle ( also depends on how good is the driver at manoeuvering through rough roads ( mostly lava trails )all the way. Then it comes to a dead end. From here onwards a local guide will guide you all the way up to Mt Pinatubo ( they are super fit! ) It takes approximately another 2 hours for the hike before you reach the crater.

We were supplied with 3 small bottles of Gatorade bring along more water if you think you get dehydrated easily.
local people still staying around …
Lava trails
Ahh...beautiful & peaceful

I can't remember how much exactly but it was somewhere around USD80 to USD100. It depends which package & route you choose to take. There are several routes, so to speak! There's one route which could lead you to a hot spring.

You definately can hike without a guide but i think you will still need a 4WD unless you are willing to trek for several days by foot.

Hope the info helps! cheers!
