Place written in the bible! Feb 23, 2009
Mount Nebo is written in the bible as the place where Moses was shown promised land (Jerusalem and around) by God, with the message that the chosen nation will be led there but Moses won't reach that place. It is also the place where it's believed as the burial of Moses although till now there is no exact location of it.
It is located west side of Madaba around 20 km towards the Jordan Valley, with height of ~800 meters, this mountain located on top of the ridge and overlook the whole Jordan Valley and Israel area.
We can see Jerusalem and Jericho if the air is really clear.
Mount Nebo has one church administered by Fransiscan ordo, too bad that the church is under restoration now. It also has some mosaic museumand also teh famous "Serpentine Cross" this sculpture is created by Italian artist as symbol of human and god, represented by snake and cross. Too bad that the park around the cross was closed when we went there, therefore we couldn't get very near to he cross. There is a direction pointing to Jerusalem and other places.
When Pope John Paul II visited this place on 2002, he proclaimed that this place is a holy place for christianity and he planted the olice trees nearby the old restored church. The entrance fee of this site id 1 JD (1.4 USD), there is a museum showing some mosaics and selling some souvenirs for charity.
The best time to visit this site is early in the morning (around 9 am) where there is no tourist around and you can take picture freely.
The view from the ridge was breathtaking as we can see the whole Madaba hills, with white stones here and there and greenery from olive trees everywhere.

About the best time to visit the site; actually it depends, by sunrise, the view could be incredibly clear where streets of West bank and Jerusalem could be seen. by Sunset, the view is amazing where sun sinks behind the mountains of Jerusalem.

The second day in Jordan! The weather was perfect, sunny and clear blue sky. We arrange a day excursion from Issa - taxi driver coordinator from Mariam Hotel. The road there is uphill and in good condition. The weather was perfect (I guess I'm very impressed with this since I have mentioned this twice in this blog!). Red soil… Day-2 Mount Nebo

I decided to base the first few days of our Jordan trip from Madaba. The half first day we spent by wandering around the town, these are a few tourist attractions to see. Madaba is a capital of Madaba Governate, one of 12 Governates in Jordan. It i…Mount Nebo, Dead Sea, Jordan River, Mukawir. We headed out from the hotel towards town center, the road is quite small and busy with cars passing by. Road and pavement condition is decent, some broken pavement and muddy road side. Several constructions works going on, especially… Day-1 The way to Madaba
